Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, the importance of biosecurity takes on new meaning. Russian developers from the Shvabe concern presented a device that will allow assessing the safety of air in local zones. The device is shown at the ongoing Army 2020 forum. It is reported to be able to determine the presence and concentration in the air of a wide variety of microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, including COVID-19. It is important that the device is able to detect the presence of toxins as well.
To analyze the air, the device assembled at the Krasnogorsk plant. S. A. Zvereva, it takes no more than half an hour. The analysis is carried out in a fully automatic mode. He is able to “see” at least 86 pathogens of infectious diseases. In order for the test results to be as correct as possible, two types of analysis are carried out – real-time polymerase chain reaction and immunofluorescence. The device has not passed certification yet, but it has a final stage of readiness. The developers declare the possibility of releasing the required number of copies.
It is noted that this development is unique for Russia. The “Detector-BIO” device can be successfully used at various objects where there is a large crowd of people – metro, railway stations, hospitals, institutions. Its use can reduce the risks of occurrence and development of outbreaks of infectious diseases.
