Back in mid-October, seven-time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi fell ill with coronavirus. The Italian missed both stages in Aragon, and may not return to service at the upcoming European Grand Prix in Valencia.
To be eligible to participate, Rossi must pass two mandatory tests for Covid-19. He passed the first test last Tuesday, and the result was again positive, although the Italian motorcycle racer no longer has any symptoms of coronavirus. Rossi will pass another test on Wednesday, the press service of the Yamaha factory team said.
If Valentino fails in the upcoming stage, he is expected to be replaced by Superbike World Championship racer Garrett Gerloff. In both stages in Aragon, Yamaha competed with one driver, Maveric Viñales.
