The Ministry of Health told How to Treat COVID-19 On an Outpatient Basis

The Russian Ministry of Health has updated its recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports . In particular, the use of antiviral drugs with the international non-proprietary name “favipiravir” is prescribed on an outpatient basis. Earlier, the Ministry of Health indicated among the drugs that can be used for the treatment of coronavirus in addition to Favipiravir, Azithromycin, Hydroxychloroquine, Remdesivir, Umifenovir. However, experts admit that there is no proof that they are 100% effective.

The results of tests of a prophylactic agent against coronavirus have also been released . It turned out that the used anti-malaria drug, hydroxychloroquine, did not protect healthy people from infection, although other claims were made earlier. This is said by representatives of the University of Pennsylvania.

For the first time, the French virologist Didier Raoul spoke about the antiviral properties of hydroxychloroquine in combination with the antibiotic azithromycin. He stated that he cured several dozen patients from COVID-19 using the specified combination. However, subsequent tests have not shown the effectiveness of the approach, although hydroxychloroquine may interfere with the vital functions of the coronavirus.
